Nancy Dell’Olio, the ex-partner of former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson, is suing Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers for defamation.
Dell’Olio is seeking damages over a story headlined ‘How Nancy Dell’Olio got her claws into another high profile millionaire’which appeared in the paper on 30 April.
In a High Court writ, Dell’Olio claimed the Daily Mail story accused her of being a serial gold-digger to fund her lavish lifestyle.
Dell’Olio, a lawyer, said the 30 April story gravely damaged her personal reputation and caused her emotional hurt and embarrassment.
She is demanding damages of up to £50,000 and an injunction banning repetition of the story. She is also suing over the online version of the story.
She is represented by solicitor Steven Heffer from the law firm Collyer Bristow.
