Name change

By Press Gazette

Furnishing B2B magazine CFR has changed its name to Carpet & Flooring Review to avoid confusion resulting from a growing number of titles dedicated to flooring, writes Ruth Addicott.

The monthly launched as Carpet & Floorcoverings Review back in 1956 and altered its name to Carpet, Flooring, Retail in 1999. The latest redesign incorporates elements from the original logo.

Editor Geoff Covey said confusion had arisen in the marketplace following the launch of direct rival CFJ (Contract Flooring Journal) and Retail Floors Magazine. “I was ringing people up saying CFR and there was some acknowledgement of that name but it was fairly limited,” he said.

“Our heartland readership know CFR as Carpet and Floorcoverings Review so we thought we’d go back to the old name and clarify our position in the market.”

The revamp has been timed to coincide with the National Floor Show exhibition next month, run by its publisher CMPi, when the new format will be unveiled.

The title will continue to cover new products and profiles on retailers and manufacturers.
