The NUJ parliamentary group of MPs is to take up the issue of union recognition at the Racing Post.
NUJ members at the Trinity Mirror daily have complained that their union is in the majority, but the company has signed a recognition deal with the BAJ against their wishes.
John McDonnell MP, from the 29-strong group, said he would be seeking amendments to the employment relations bill (currently going through Parliament) to “support democracy in the workplace”.
He said the group, which was formed six months ago, is also working on issues such as low pay in the regional press, safety for journalists in war zones and the independence of the BBC.
