Elle Girl magazine is to increase its frequency to bimonthly next month, going head-to-head with its arch rival CosmoGIRL!, writes Ruth Addicott.
The title, owned by Hachette Filipacchi, was previously published quarterly. Sources say there are plans to expand the team and take it monthly by the end of the year. It has a current circulation of around 80,000.
Elle Girl, a spin-off from Elle aimed at older teens, was originally produced as part of a joint venture between Emap and Hachette Filipacchi Medias.
Hachette took sole control of the UK Elle brands last autumn after it acquired Attic Futura and then Elle Girl became part of the new company Hachette Filipacchi UK.
Kevin Hand, chairman of Hachette Filipacchi UK, said: “It has always been our intention from the moment we took sole control of the UK Elle brands last autumn, to fully develop the Elle Girl title. This is the right time to begin that process.”
