Microsoft has chosen ITN’s multimedia division, ITN On, as its news launch partner for its new operating system Windows Vista, which finally went on sale on Tuesday.
ITN Hub sits on the user’s desktop and offers home, world, showbiz, sports, money news and pop-up video reports.
The ITN Hub also allows users to set up video or sound alerts for when new stories are added and view video reports on their desktop. Using ITN’s professional video content, ITN Hub also features On This Day In History, 90-second video clips of historical events that happened on any particular day since film began in the late 19th century.
Nicholas Wheeler, managing director of ITN On, said: ‘It’s a great accolade to be chosen by Microsoft Vista as its only news launch partner. This seal of approval is another great milestone in the development of our multimedia business. We’re very excited about Windows Vista and look forward to developing the gadget and application further with Microsoft.’Microsoft’s Cynthia Crossley said: ‘We chose ITN On as our news launch partner as it has a great reputation for quality journalism and has made huge strides in putting content on new technology platforms.”
