Philip Smith, editor of Haymarket’s Media Week, is to join Brand Republic, the parent company’s marketing and media website, as head of content.
In this new role Smith will oversee the editorial development of Brand Republic, which is relaunching and recruiting eight further editorial and sales staff this year. Gordon MacMillan will continue as editor of the UK site and take on extra responsibility for developing its community dimension.
Rufus Olins, managing director of Haymarket Brand Media, said: “Philip will be a terrific ambassador for Brand Republic and will be instrumental in removing the traditional boundaries between print and online as we develop our multi-platform approach. I am delighted to have him on board.”
Smith has edited Media Week since May 2005, was previously editor of Revolution, the digital marketing title and has more than 10 years of experience of online journalism.
