Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

‘Mayor Johnson! Mayor Johnson!’ Boris walks away from live BBC interview

By Axegrinder

Boris Johnson walked off camera during a BBC interview this afternoon, leaving the presenter calling out his name on live television.

Tim Willcox was speaking to Johnson about proposals to make parkland and landmarks in London smoke-free areas, but then asked if they could move on to another topic.

"Let's put that to one side. Just one other thing if I may," Willcox said from the studio.

But the Conservative politician had already left the camera shot, leaving the presenter to call out: "Mayor Johnson! Mayor Johnson!"

Willcox said: "I think he knew what the next question I wanted to ask him was, which is why he's left."
