Gardening weekly Amateur Gardening has launched a marketing push
following a year-on-year sales drop of 12 per cent in the latest ABC
figures.

The 121-year-old IPC title will make one issue a month a bumpersized edition, starting on 5 April.

Each
100-page special will feature a free pocket-sized booklet themed on a
particular area of gardening, and the first three specials will also
contain money-off coupons for the rest of the month’s issues.

The
100-page editions will cost £1.70, compared to the usual £1.50 Editor
Tim Rumball said: “The campaign of bumper 100-page issues carrying A6
pocket gardening guides, followed by free seeds themed to the guides,
is a first. I’m convinced the readers are going to love it.”
