Manchester Evening News in Martin Amis FoI exclusive

By paulmcnally

The Manchester Evening News has used the Freedom of Information Act to reveal that author Martin Amis is paid almost £3,000 an hour to be the University of Manchester’s professor of creative writing.

The exclusive story, by Yakub Qureshi, was followed up by almost every national newspaper on Saturday.

The FoI data showed Amis was paid £80,000 a year for 28 hours’ work. According to the MEN, the revelation comes just months after the university made 750 staff redundant to get itself out of debt.
