The Wall Street Journal’s managing editor, Marcus Brauchli, has stepped down, reports the Financial Times.

The news comes four months after Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. bought the paper’s media group, Dow Jones, for $5bn.

A former Dow Jones executive told the Financial Times: “This is symbolic of the push from business coverage to politics and it’s symbolic of Murdoch being fully in control.” They added that Brauchli, who held the post for a year, was “a world- class editor who was hand-picked and groomed as the chosen one at the Journal.”
