The Daily Mail has apologised to Kate Beckinsale for making inaccurate claims about her private life.
An article published on 27 March carried the headline “The real reason Kate is single again” which alleged the actress had recently spent time in a clinic.
The paper published a 47-word apology on page 17 in a deal brokered by the Press Complaints Commission. It said: “We now understand that the claims we made were incorrect and we apologise to Kate for the distress and embarrassment she has been caused.”
Last month, Beckinsale had a separate PCC complaint against the Mail dismissed. It concerned photos of her embracing her boyfriend while her daughter Lily looked on.
