Mail Online hits daily traffic record of 11.8m, with 58m monthly unique browsers in the UK

Mail Online hit a new traffic record in May when it reached an average of 11,792,392 daily web browsers per day.

This was just up from the previous daily record of 11,768,620, which it hit in January this year.

Mail Online recorded an average of 145m page impressions today and 184m monthly unique browsers.

According to ABC the site had 126m unique browsers abroad and 58m in the UK. The highly monthly total reflect the fact that ABC counts different devices, so the same people may be counted several times if the log on to the site on mobile, tablet and desktop. 

The Mirror.co.uk saw its average daily unique user number increase by 158 per cent year on year in September to 3,883,412, making it the most improved national newspaper website.

Mail Online remained top of the pile with 11,792,392 average daily unique users, up 24 per cent year on year, and The Guardian website remained second largest with 6,499,563, up 41 per cent.

There were an average 1,348,251 daily unique users across Trinity Mirror's regional websites, meaning the publisher’s overall average daily online audience is 5,026,977.

Trinity Mirror chief executive Simon Fox said: "We are seeing continued and impressive year-on-year growth right across our network of news brands – as a group we now reach over 91 million monthly users. 

"Our national sites enjoyed growth of 145 per cent in September. This is down to the strength of our journalism and how we then publish this content across our platforms. Mobile and video are performing well and with social we are making real progress.

"And, for the first time we have published our total regional network number which shows we are attracting nearly 22 million monthly unique users, making us the clear number one in regional digital publishing."
