The women’s weekly market slumped by eight per cent in the second half of 2008, according to the latest ABC figures.
Of the 23 women’s weeklies audited, only two – Hello (£2) and Bella (83p) – acheived year-on-year circulation increases.
In total, the market fell by eight per cent, from 9,094,113 to 8,370,323.
In the celeb weeklies, OK magazine fell 25.6 per cent from 683,451 to 508,504; Heat fell 11.7 per cent from 533,034 to 470,475; and Pick Me Up was down 12.2 per cent, from 426,327 to 374,268.
The best-selling women’s weekly, once again, was real life title Take A Break (78p) , which fell 3.9 per cent, and slipped under the million mark – but still had a 943,229 circulation, 400,000 more than Closer (£1.20), its nearest rival.
