Lou Cummins, who was editor of the Newbury Weekly News from 1978 to 1996, has died, aged 60. At 23, he was the youngest newspaper editor in the country, at the Brentwood Gazette. He was a leading and outspoken member of the Guild of Newspaper Editors. After leaving the Newbury Weekly News, Cummins became director of the Oxfordshire Association for the Blind until his retirement last year.
