London Press Club Ball raises £30,000 for Journalists' charity

Generous journalists raised more than £30,000 for charity at the London Press Club ball at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Presenter Kate Silverton and journalist Nick Ferrari hosted last night's event.

Fast-talking Ferrari took the opportunity to defend his old colleagues in the print media.

“There are more journalists under arrest in Britain than there are in Iran.”

More than 400 journalists packed the salubrious surroundings.

X Factor runner up Ella Henderson sang three songs from her new album.

Ferrari turned auctioneer when a year’s free driving of the electric Nissan Leaf was on offer.

There was a moment of irony as bidding reached £3,000 and Ferrari dropped the hammer, the winner of the auction was Massimo Fedeli – former head of Ferrari in the UK.
