Two Scottish media men’s bid for Tennent’s Scottish Cup glory is over… at least for this season, writes Hamish Mackay.
The giant-killing run of Edinburgh non-league side Spartans ended on Sunday when they were beaten 4-0 by Scottish Premier League opponents Livingston to lose out on a place in the quarterfinals of the national football competition.
It was the end of a dream for Scotsman sports sub Phil Johnson and Ken Hughes, media officer for Scottish Quality Salmon.
However, both savoured the experience and Johnston recalled in his post-match diary in The Scotsman: “Mostly I ended up marking striker David Fernandez. Me against someone worth £1m!”
