Livingston end media men's dream of Scottish Cup glory

Two Scottish media men’s bid for Tennent’s Scottish Cup glory is over… at least for this season, writes Hamish Mackay.

The giant-killing run of Edinburgh non-league side Spartans ended on Sunday when they were beaten 4-0 by Scottish Premier League opponents Livingston to lose out on a place in the quarterfinals of the national football competition.

It was the end of a dream for Scotsman sports sub Phil Johnson and Ken Hughes, media officer for Scottish Quality Salmon.

However, both savoured the experience and Johnston recalled in his post-match diary in The Scotsman: “Mostly I ended up marking striker David Fernandez. Me against someone worth £1m!”
