Daily Telegraph editor Will Lewis, the Mail on Sunday’s Peter Wright and Dorothy Byrne from Channel 4 are among the speakers confirmed for this year’s Society of Editors conference.
It takes place in Manchester from 4 November and will have the theme “A Matter of Trust”.
Other confirmed speakers include BBC deputy director general Mark Byford, Georgina Henry of The Guardian, Steve Lowe of LSN Media and David Schlesinger of Reuters.
Non-journalists to address the conference include director of public prosecutions Sir Ken Macdonald QC and Shami Chakrabarti of Liberty.
Paul Horrocks, president of the society and editor of the Manchester Evening News, said: ‘Credibility and trust are essential for any media organisation to prosper. How will traditional print or broadcasting organisations maintain that trust? How will new websites, digital channels, blogs or podcasts earn it? How do relationships with government, other organisations and, most important, readers, listeners and viewers need to change? We will look at the political, legal and training implications behind A Matter of Trust.”
