Lean brief to 'redefine' Telegraph environment coverage

The Daily Telegraph is beefing up its coverage of the environment by appointing Geoffrey Lean to the new job of consulting editor (enivironment).

He will be writing a weekly column, regular features and a new blog. Lean joins from the Independent on Sunday where he has been environment editor since 1993.

Lean said: “I never expected to work for The Daily Telegraph, but I’ve become convinced there is a bold and groundbreaking new spirit at large in the paper, which makes it a most attractive paper to join. William Lewis has asked me to help redefine its environmental coverage and policies and I am enormously looking forward to taking up the opportunity.

“I have had 16 great years on the Independent on Sunday, and am tremendously grateful to it for taking the lead on the environment long before it became fashionable, and to successive editors for enabling me to cover a wide range of issues and conduct a series of campaigns.”
