James Knox, who created the post of publisher at The Spectator
magazine in the 1980s, has joined The Art Newspaper as managing
director.
On leaving The Spectator, he wrote the biography of the 1930s travel writer and architectural conservationist Robert Byron.
Knox,
who contributes to The Daily Telegraph and Country Life, has previously
held editorial posts at Antique Collector and with the Thomson
organisation.
Knox said of his appointment: “The Art Newspaper is
witty, informative, beautifully written and required reading for anyone
with an interest in art. Each issue brims with scoops that are
immediately picked up by the national and international press. It is a
great privilege to have the chance to develop the many creative
opportunities presented by such a dynamic title.”
