John McIlroy is made magazine editor of What Car?

By Myriam Dijck

The jobs merry-go-round at Haymarket's car titles has concluded with John McIlroy moving from news editor of weekly title Autocar to become magazine editor of monthly What Car?

His move follows former Autocar editor, Chas Hallett who made the move to What Car? as editor-in-chief in May this year. Last week it was announced that What Car? editor Jim Holder had moved to the same job at Autocar.

Other job moves at What Car? include Emma Butcher, who will become the magazine's consumer editor, moving from Haymarket's business-to-business title Car and Accessory Trader, where she was editor.

Leo Wilkinson moves to deputy web editor, where he will report for whatcar.com. Will Nightingale moves from his consumer role to the road test team and Steve Huntingford, previously a road tester, has been promoted to new cars editor.

What Car? has a monthly circulation of 87,000 and claims 1.2 million unique visitors per month online.
