James Murdoch in the crossfire - who will MPs believe?

At times during James Murdoch’s second appeance in parliament he appeared to be dancing on the head of a pin as he sought to explain exactly what he was told during a crucial meeting on 10 June, 2008, to discuss Gordon Taylor’s £1m privacy payout over phone-hacking.

Former News of the World editor Colin Myler and legal chief Tom Crone insist that he was told at that meeting about the “For Neville” email – which proved phone-hacking was more widespread at the News of the World.

But Murdoch appeared to suggest that while he was told about the existence of the transcript – he was not made aware of its significance.
