ITV News has announced that John Ray will be the programme's first
China correspondent amid a number of reshuffles in its foreign bureaux.
Ray
was previously ITV News' UK Editor and senior political correspondent.
He has covered a wide range of stories including the Hutton Inquiry and
Tony Blair's 2005 General Election campaign.
He said: "I am
delighted to be taking up this post. In one way or another, China is
already changing all our lives. It's the big story of the century. To
witness it – and to report on it for ITV News – is a huge challenge and
a fantastic opportunity."
His appointment follows news that
Channel Four News is expanding his China coverage by sending
international editor Lindsey Hilsum to cover the country.
