GMG's Real Radio stations lead the shortlist in this year's IRN awards with six nominations.
Real Radio Wales and Real Radio Yorkshire are both nominated for best news programme, competing against Radio City in Liverpool and Town 102 in Ipswich, which is nominated for its coverage of the Suffolk murders.
The nominees for scoop of the year include Radio Forth for its revelation that Scotland's First Minister Jack McConnell was refusing to support England in the World Cup.
Also in the running for the title are Kiss 101 for its story on racial inclusion, Mercury FM in Crawley for its scoop on rogue Gatwick airport parking and Teesside's TFM for "Boro in Bother" about Middlesbrough FC.
