IPC Media’s 111-year-old weekly rural magazine Country Life has had a redesign and is repeating last year’s advent calendar front cover.
Publisher IPC said the issue in December last year that had an advent calendar for a cover led to a 26 per cent year-on-year rise in newsstand sales.
Country Life has used the idea again this year. This week’s cover features a 16th century stained glass nativity scene and Christmas-themed images behind 24 die-cut windows.
The magazine has updated its layout to make it ‘more accessible for readers to enjoy”, with the introduction of new ‘contemporary’fonts, a new colour palette and more photography.
Editor Mark Hedges said: ‘It’s vital that Country Life continues to develop and produce the magazine that’s right for its readers.
“This refresh allows us to make the very most of our weekly frequency as well as introduce a fresh, clean design that shows off the best of Country Life’s iconic imagery.”
