Chairman of the Independent titles and the Evening Standard Evgeny Lebedev has taken British citizenship.
The 30-year-old son of billionaire former Russian KGB man Alexander Lebedev celebrated the move with a star-studded party at the Royal Courts of Justice in London last night.
Today’s Evening Standard reports the news with a lead story on page 13.
It states that the party was hosted by Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish and reports that London mayor Boris Johnson gave a speech and Jamie Cullum sang at the event.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling, Tate art gallery director Nicholas Serota and sculptor Anthony Gormley were among the 130 guests.
The Standard reports that Evgeny has lived in London since he was eight, after going to school in the capital, and that he now holds dual Russian and UK citizenship.
