Imagine Publishing has announced that it is to keep 11 of the 24 ex-Highbury computing titles it bought earlier this year, retaining 56 journalists and losing 41.
The full list of titles is: Advanced Photoshop, Digital Camera Buyer, Digital Photographer, GamesTM, iCreate, PDA Essentials, Play, PowerStation, Web Designer, WindowsXP Made Easy and X360.
The company said that of the remainder of editorial staff who were transferred over in the sale, 29 had taken voluntary redundancy and 12 had been made redundant after unsuccessfully reapplying for their jobs.
No ex-Highbury staff at SMD Publishing, which bought Hotdog and Front, and Encanta, which bought a group of craft titles, lost their jobs following the sale.
But Imagine MD Damian Butt said Imagine’s record "seemed worse" than the other companies because it had taken on such a huge raft of titles to start with, many of which had been run into the ground or were existing on a skeleton staff and freelancers.
Imagine now has a portfolio of 17 specialist consumer magazines.
Creative director Mark Kendrick said: "We are keen to welcome the 60 new Imagineers and bring them all of the benefits that come with working at Imagine. We are also investing heavily and redeveloping all the newly acquired titles to cultivate a varied and world-class magazine portfolio."
The company said it had also settled a dispute with the ABC that had been hanging over from the titles’ days at Highbury, and said it was planning to get its titles audited soon.
