Haymarket, publisher of Packaging News, PrintWeek and PrintBuyer, has acquired two rival magazines from CMPi, in a move that will strengthen the company’s position in the print and packaging industry.
Packaging Magazine will be incorporated into Packaging News from the May issue, while Printing World will be "repositioned as a high-quality in-depth monthly magazine", selling alongside Haymarket’s other print industry titles, PrintWeek and PrintBuyer.
The newly expanded Packaging Magazine will also see an overhaul of content and design, aiming to be, according to editor Felicity Murray, "the only publication the packaging professional ever needs to read".
The relaunched Packaging News will be produced in a compact size with double the number of editorial pages, extra features and analysis.
The titles have been bought from a set of 10 originally put up for sale by CMPi in January. The most high profile of the group, Music Week, is now being retained by the company, leaving Industrial Equipment Market, Glass Age, Benn’s Media, The Knowledge, Trade-it, Trader and Private Villas on the market.
