Gordon Sampson has retired after almost 50 years working for the Halifax Courier and its sister weekly papers.
Sampson started his career on the Brighouse Echo in July 1959. In the early Sixties, he joined the Courier sports desk, before returning to the Brighouse Echo in 1981 as associate editor. In 1987, he became editor of the paper.
In the early Nineties, Gordon became special features editor at the Courier, before becoming editor of sister title the Calderdale News, where he was recently was put in charge of arts and entertainment coverage.
