Hacks take a swipe at new Parly protection

Plans to install a new security system at Westminster have sent shivers through the Press Gallery at the Commons.

The “men in tights” who run the Commons are putting in a system of electronic swipe cards as part of their anti-terror measures.

But the cards will enable the authorities to tell who is in the building at any particular time.

“Just imagine if it catches on,” moaned one hack. “Our bosses would be able to tell exactly how long we’re out for lunch every day.”
