Sally Gunnell is to join BBC South East Today on 1 October to present its Friday-night sport programme.
Gunnell, who will host the programme for 10 weeks, entered the media arena following her retirement from athletics in 1997 and became a member of the BBC Sport Broadcasting team in 1999.
BBC South East Today’s output editor Quentin Smith said: “I am delighted that Sally is joining the team. She’ll be a valued member with her wealth of experience”.
Gunnell added: “Being able to cover local sporting talent and not just the big names really appeals to me.”
