Guardian Newspapers is the latest national newspaper group to change its name to reflect the importance of new media activities.
Guardian Newspapers – which comprises The Guardian, Observer and Guardian Unlimited – is to be re-named Guardian News and Media.
GMG Regional Newspapers is becoming GMG Regional Media.
Chief executive of parent company Guardian Media Group Carolyn McCall said: “Over the last five years our output has expanded from print to include websites, digital TV, online
communities and podcasts. These name changes reflect this ongoing transformation of our businesses.”
In July, Times Newspapers changed its name to Times Media. At the beginning of the year Telegraph Group announced it was planning to change its named to Telegraph Media Group, once the ongoing move from Canary Wharf to Victoria is completed.
