What a bizarre letter from Ivor Smullen (Press Gazette, 3 June),
claiming in his tirade against newspaper giveaway CDs that “yobbish
behaviour is so obviously a result of the brutalisation of society by
the merchants of pop”.
In case he hasn’t noticed, for reasons of
cost, giveaway CDs largely feature “pop classics” (ahem) from the
Sixties – when the merchants of pop were largely promoting peace and
love!
