Future Publishing is launching musicians’ magazine What Guitar? The 132-page title is due out next month and hopes to attract professional musicians as well as amateurs. It will feature tips on acoustic and electric guitars, basses and amps.
It will also include reviews, tips on buying and selling in the second-hand market, tests and guides on the latest products.
Guitarist editor Neville Marten will oversee the launch with Michael Leonard, editor of Guitar Techniques, as consultant.
The magazine will have a cover price of £2.99 and be published from the same portfolio as Guitarist, Guitar Techniques and Total Guitar.
Katherine Raderecht, publisher of What Guitar?, said: “While other ‘hobby’ areas such as photography, hi-fi and cycling have long had magazines functioning as dedicated buyer’s guides, the guitar-playing market lacks such a publication. And with contributors including respected guitar journalists such as Dave Burrluck, Roger Newell, David Mead, Simon Bradley, Steve Lawson, Ben Bartlett and Rikky Rooksby, What Guitar? will offer the same high production values as its market-leading sister titles.”
What Guitar? will launch nationwide on 25 March.
