FT's David Wighton is new Times City editor

The Times has appointed the Financial Times’s New York bureau chief David Wighton as its business and City editor.

Wighton has been with the FT since 1994 and has worked in America in various roles for the paper. He previously worked for the Daily Telegraph on its Questor financial comment column and as City editor.

Times editor James Harding has also made a series of other editorial changes, including promoting communications director Anoushka Healy to assistant editor, strategy and development.

On the newsdesk, John Wellman, previously home editor, has been made deputy head of news and deputy sports editor Jeremy Griffin has been made assistant head of news, online.

Bridget Callaghan, editor of Times Online, will become editor of the paper’s mobile phone content.
