FT Weekend gets new editor

The Financial Times has appointed Caroline Daniel as the new editor of FT Weekend.

Daniel, who is currently assistant editor of the FT, will take on the additional responsibility on 1 June, replacing Andy Davis.

After joining the FT in 1999 Daniel most recently held the post of comment and analysis editor. Prior to this she was comment editor and also White House correspondent, based in Washington.

She has also been the FT’s correspondent in Chicago and the IT correspondent.

Prior to joining the FT, Daniel was a features writer and reporter at the New Statesman, a reporter at the Economist, and a political researcher for Gordon Brown when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Lionel Barber, editor of the FT, said: ‘I am delighted to appoint Caroline to the role of FT Weekend editor. She has done an outstanding job editing and developing the comment and analysis pages in the FT and is ready to lead the future development of FT Weekend.”

The FT said that Davis was ‘currently exploring new opportunities at the FT”.
