New York freelance Annette Witheridge took part in a sponsored walk to raise cash for breast cancer care – just six weeks after having an operation for the disease herself.
Despite feeling weak following her operation, she was out in Central Park with 22,000 others last Sunday.
The former News of the World staffer, who has worked for all the nationals since moving to the States in 1995, wore flip-flops instead of trainers for the walk.
‘Luckily they caught my breast cancer early and everything appears to be fine,’she said.
‘Exercise is not my favourite activity,’she said. ‘I knew I’d find it difficult to run round but I was determined to finish the course by walking.”
