Trinity Mirror has appointed Ellis Watson to the new post of general manager, MGN.
Reporting to chief executive Sly Bailey, Watson, 35, pictured right, will look after advertising, circulation and marketing for the Daily Mirror, the Sunday Mirror and The People. He will also be a member of the executive committee of the group.
Watson is currently managing director of Celador International, which licenses television formats on and off-air around the world, the most well known being Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Before joining Celador, Ellis spent 10 years with News Corporation. He was marketing director for News Group Newspapers, which publishes The Sun and News of the World.
“The new role is at the heart of an improved management structure for our national papers,” said Bailey. “Ellis has enormous commercial experience in media and in particular national newspapers. He will bring a renewed commercial focus and vigour to the operation.”
He takes up his appointment on 5 June.
