Forget Leonardo, wed me Gisele, asks features ed

By Press Gazette

Arena’s features editor did not waste any time in elbowing Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo di Caprio out of the way when he clinched an interview with di Caprio’s girlfriend, the Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen.

Paul Croughton ended the interview by producing a ring and asking Bundchen to marry him.

Arena secured the world exclusive interview and revealing photo shoot for its current issue.

Editor Anthony Noguera said it was a scoop, as Bundchen does very little press and had just turned down millions to do Playboy.

“She is probably the most requested woman on magazine covers around the world and she does almost no press, bizarrely.

“She is one of those people who is just so incredibly famous she doesn’t need to.”

Noguera said the piece should generate a lot of publicity, because it was her most revealing photoshoot so far.

At the end of the interview Croughton asked her if the rumours were true about her getting married to di Caprio.

Bundchen claimed that nobody has ever asked her to marry. Asked if she wanted to get married, she said: “Do you?”, to which Croughton replied: “To you? Yeah, go on…”

Bundchen said: “Do you have a ring?” Croughton produced a silver ring and put it on the ring finger of her left hand.

She said: “OK, I’m getting married! You asked me, he didn’t!” Croughton told Press Gazette: “Gisele was absolutely staggering, about nine feet tall and clearly the most beautiful woman in the world.

“Once Gisele has said she’ll marry you, you can’t really go back to the girl in the pub, can you?”
