Forgan: succeeds Hugo Young
Liz Forgan has succeeded the late Hugo Young as chairman of the Scott Trust, which owns Guardian Media Group. Forgan, 59, a former editor of The Guardian’s women’s pages, was a commissioning editor at Channel 4 and later director of programmes. She was managing director of BBC Radio from 1993 to 1996.
The trust was founded by Manchester Guardian editor and proprietor CP Scott to avoid death duties and to safeguard the paper’s financial and idealogical independence. It wholly owns GMG, which comprises The Guardian, Observer, Manchester Evening News, Reading Post, 41 local weekly papers, various local radio stations and Trader Media Group (which includes Autotrader and Adtrader).
