The Grimsby Evening Telegraph has published a code of conduct for grassroots football clubs to stop abuse of players and officials.
The newspaper believes that bad behaviour is putting off fans, players and officials.
It is now contacting 250 amateur clubs in the Grimsby Sunday League and asking them to sign up to the six-point code, ratified by Fifa, in the next month. It also hopes other papers may join in its campaign.
