Forty-eight public bodies have been added to the list of authorities subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
The authorities will have to have a publication scheme approved by the Information Commissioner and members of the public will have the right to ask for information when the law comes into effect in 2005.
The bodies being added include The Advisory Council on National Records and Archives, The Ethnic Minority
Business Forum, The Financial Services Authority, The General Teaching Council for England and The Independent Advisory Group on Teenage Pregnancy.
