Former BBC Five Live presenter Fi Glover is to become the new presenter of Broadcasting House, the Sunday morning news programme on BBC Radio 4.
She will take over from Eddie Mair as the show’s main presenter, following his decision in September to become anchor of drivetime news programme PM. He presented his final Broadcasting House at the weekend.
Glover will start on the programme on 11 January on a provisional sixmonth stint. She is currently in New York, on sabbatical since July, writing a book about US radio.
“It’s the only job I’d come back to the UK to do,” she said.
In the meantime, the programme will be fronted by guest presenters that will include BBC chief political correspondent Mark Mardell, Newsnight anchor Gavin Esler and Radio 4’s Peter White.
Richard Clark, editor of Broadcasting House, said he was “thrilled” that Glover was joining the news programme and Radio 4. “She is presenter of genuine wit, warmth and individuality,” he said.
Glover also currently has a weekly show on LBC 97.3FM, called Fi-Mail from America, which features as part of Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s Sunday morning current affairs show between 10am and noon.
