Explosions lead to cancellation of London Press Ball

The London Press Ball has been postponed after a number of explosions caused massive disruption in London.

The £200-a-head summer ball, held in aid of
journalism charity NPF,  was due to take place at the Natural
History Museum in Kensington.

It is a second setback for the event which has
already had host Carol Vorderman drop out to attend the funeral of
Countdown co-presenter Richard Whiteley.

Chairman of the ball committee Philippa Kennedy
said: “In view of the terrorist incidents in London today and the
extent of the injuries, destruction and travel chaos we have had to
cancel tonight’s press ball.

“We also bear in mind the responsibility that all
journalists have to their media outlets – it looks like a busy night
for them all.”
