Future’s computing magazine Microsoft Windows XP: The Official Magazine clinched an exclusive interview with Microsoft founder Bill Gates for its first issue of the new year, writes Ruth Addicott.
Freelance Mary Branscombe was the only UK journalist to get access to Gates at a round table at the Professional Developers Conference in Los Angeles.
Following a successful pitch to the organisers and stiff competition from rival magazines, Branscombe got the chance to quiz Gates exclusively about development of the next version of Windows.
The interview appears over six pages in a bumper-sized edition of the magazine.
Dave Bradley, editor of Microsoft Windows XP, said: “It’s a big deal for us and it was important because it’s our first issue of the year. It is such a big time for changes in technology, it is great to hear it from the horse’s mouth.”
