Former Sunday Times chief political reporter Eben Black is the latest highprofile journalist to leave Fleet Street for the world of public relations.
Black left the paper in February after being asked to become defence correspondent.
His new role is head of media at City-based government affairs business DLA Upstream.
Last month former Sun editor David Yelland left News International to become a senior vice-president at PR firm Weber Shandwick, the same company that poached Sunday Times political editor Michael Prescott.
Black was at The Sunday Times for five years and was previously political editor of the News of the World, political correspondent for Today and political reporter at The Sun.
He said: “Public affairs is a growing industry. More and more companies are wanting the sort of advice that companies like the one I am joining can offer.
“The sort of journalism I’ve been doing, political journalism, is very good preparation for this sort of work.”
