The South Wales Echo relaunched this week with a new masthead, writes Martin McNamara.
The Echo, the largest-selling evening newspaper in Wales, also has a new strapline, “At the Heart of South Wales”.
Editor Alastair Milburn said the relaunch was to reflect the changing status of South Wales: “Our circulation is in a very vibrant and rejuvenated area, particularly Cardiff, and I just thought it was important for our newspaper to reflect that.”
Editorial changes include a new health and leisure section with a female bias, and the Sport Extra section and weekend entertainment guide and listings have become full-colour pull outs.
Jaci Stephen, who was born in Wales, will write a weekly column.
