Steve Paterson, the new manager of Aberdeen FC, which is in desperate relegation straits this season, has banned his players from talking to the media until the once-great Dons play themselves out of trouble.
The media ban has brought an editorial plea from the Aberdeen Independent free newspaper. It accepts Paterson wants his side to concentrate on football which is, after all, what they are paid for but added: “Steve shouldn’t forget the fans. They help pay his – and the players’ wages – and they want to know what’s going on at Pittodrie.
“We all hope that Aberdeen FC can get their act together – it would be a disaster, in the club’s centenary year, if they were playing first division football next season.”
