Dimbleby quits ITV programme

By Press Gazette

Veteran political interviewer Jonathan Dimbleby is stepping down from his eponymous Sunday lunchtime political programme on ITV.

He will continue to host Radio 4’s Any Questions and Any Answers, but will leave his television programme in May at the end of the current series. He is discussing other projects with ITV, which hopes he will continue to be involved with the channel’s election coverage.

The 61-year-old presenter and son of former BBC correspondent Richard Dimbleby has fronted his show for 11 years. He began his career at Radio Bristol in 1969, before moving to Radio 4’s World at One. He joined Thames Television for a stint on This Week in 1972.

A new format and presenter for ITV’s political show, which will be made by the team that produced Jonathan Dimbleby, will be announced later this year.
