Former features editor at the Medway News Liz Dickens is to fill the newlycreated position of head of corporate communications for Kent Police.
Dickens joins from the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority where she held the same position.
She trained as a journalist with the Kentish Times series before moving to the Kent Messenger Group’s Kent Evening Post.
Her final job in journalism was with the Medway News after which she worked in the press office of Gillingham Council and in the public relations department of the former Rochester-upon-Medway City Council.
Dickens’ position has been created to: “ensure that the force communicates better with the public,” and will work along side Chief Constable Mike Fuller, to ensure “the force listens to and responds to the views of the public,” a statement said.
Fuller said: “Liz has an outstanding communications track record working for the public sector, including emergency-service organisations. I am delighted that she is joining Kent Police to help us improve all channels of communication.”
