Isle of Wight County Press editor Brian Dennis has left the paper after eight years to pursue other business interests. The position will be filled by Alan Marriott (above), who has himself been with the County Press for more than 20 years.
Marriott, who has been chief sub-editor and deputy editor on the title for the last 10 years, said: ‘I will uphold the fine tradition of the County Press for serving islanders as a community paper and one that acts independently of authority. It is important that we work for the good of the island.’The County Press claims to have the highest readership penetration of any paid-for weekly paper – with 86 per cent of islanders said to read the paper
